The AGM will take around 20 minutes and the trustees would appreciate the support and participation of members in electing the board. For information about how to stand or nominate a member, or about what is involved in being a trustee, please get in touch.

Open Meeting

The AGM will be followed by a talk by Dr. Charles Shepherd. The talk is open to all.

Where Are We Now With Research, Diagnosis And Management?

Dr Charles Shepherd, honorary medical adviser to the ME Association, also heads up the Ramsay Research Fund, the research branch of the ME Association, which funds research into the bio-medical causes of ME/CFS.

In November 2012 Dr Charles Shepherd gave an interview on the subject of ME/CFS to the Telegraph. He said that as a young doctor at Cirencester Hospital in the late 70’s he developed ME after a bout of chickenpox and went on to describe his relative recovery, which would be familiar to many of us. He counts pacing as the key to managing the illness.

In 2008, his book, “Living with ME”, was published. It covers all aspects of ME and describes the effects of the illness upon the brain, including problems of concentration and memory, an aspect of ME sometimes avoided by other authors.

Charles Shepherd has spent two decades fighting the sometimes dismissive attitude of the medical profession to ME/CFS. It’s this vigorous and challenging attitude that has endeared him to many in the ME community.

The talk is free but donations for refreshments are welcome.
