Studying with ME

The advice I would give to other students is to take on what you can, but don’t exceed your limitations long term. Studying part time and being able to pace was key for me. Starting assignments early and spacing out the workload is also wise, in case anything unexpected happens before the deadline. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for help, either academic or personal. People can be really accommodating if you let them know about your needs.

The library is a FREE service for all members. Items are sent out and returned by post. All postage costs are covered by edmesh. There is usually no time limit on borrowing, unless an item is requested by another member.

The Scottish Good Practice Statement on ME-CFS was published by NHS Scotland in September 2010. It includes a very useful guide for patients called “What someone should know if they or their doctor think they might have ME-CFS”.



Self Management and Looking after Yourself

As with many conditions you will need to learn to manage your M.E. or CFS in the best way possible for you. This will involve learning and practising approaches like pacing to make best use of your energy. It is a good idea to keep a diary of symptoms and activities to help you see any patterns and pace what you are doing day by day.
