By • Jun 6th, 2012 • Category: Featured Article, News

edmesh hosted a screening of the documentary film Voices from the Shadows at Cineworld on 24th May. This hour-long film won the Mill Valley Festival Audience Favourite International Documentary Award in October 2011. Made by Natalie Boulton and Josh Biggs, the mother and brother of a severely ill M.E. patient, it unveils the reality of people with M.E. and their carers. It has been described as the most important and significant film on paediatric M.E. that has ever been produced.

The screening was followed by a Question and Answer Session with Dr Vance Spence from M.E. Research U.K. and Dr Nigel Speight, paediatric advisor to the M.E. Association.

135 people attended the screening, making it the best attended event in edmesh history. This was the largest and most ambitious event funded by edmesh. It was held both to mark edmesh’s 25th year and to raise awareness amongst professionals and the public of the continuing plight of people with M.E. Donations received at the event will be donated to M.E. research.
