We are delighted that Dr Jonathan Kerr has agreed to be our guest speaker at the next Open Meeting. Feedback from our members showed “research” as the most popular topic requested for an open meeting. We have not had a speaker talking about research since October 2006 when Professor John Gow from Glasgow Caledonian University presented his research findings to us.
Jonathan Kerr was born in Belfast, qualified in medicine from Queen’s University of Belfast (1987) and completed training as a medical microbiologist (1995). He has worked as a microbiologist in Belfast, Manchester and London, taking up post as Sir Jospeph Hotung Clinical Senior Lecturer in Inflammation & Microbiology at St George’s University of London in 2005. He is the principal investigator of the CFS Group. He has recently reported 88 human genes whose dysregulation is associated with CFS/ME, and which can be used to derive genomic CFS/ME subtypes which have marked differences in clinical phenotype and severity. He is funded by the CFS Research Foundation and ME Research UK and leads a team of 5 at St George’s University of London.
We do hope you will be able to attend. If you are unable to attend but have a question you would like to put to Jonathan Kerr, please get in touch and we will do our best to pass your question on.
